SAMI-AEC and ISS sign ‘Made in Saudi’ agreement to develop business in security and video analytics sectors
Deal fully meets Vision 2030 plan parameters
Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Feb. 7, 2023 – Advanced Electronics Company (“AEC”) today formally announced its agreement with Intelligent Security Systems Corporation (“ISS”) to jointly develop business in the security and video analytics sectors, and specifically to manufacture the SecurOS® Under-Vehicle Surveillance System (UVSS) at AEC’s facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
AEC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Saudi Arabia Military Industries (SAMI) and an acknowledged forerunner in the design, manufacture, sales and repair of diverse electronics and ICT products and systems. ISS is based in New Jersey, U.S.A., and considered a pioneer and leader in the field of advanced, AI-driven analytics and third-generation security/smart city devices.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two companies was signed on the floor of the Riyadh LEAP Conference by: Ziad bin Houmod Al-Musallam, Chief Executive Officer of SAMI-AEC; and Richard Burns, Chairman of ISS.
Both parties acknowledged the significance of the localization of the production and development of the SecurOS® UVSS in the context of the Vision 2030 plan laid out by H.E. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Sulman Al Saud. The joint venture would meet not only the plan’s framework to create value-added employment, but also for continuing research and development on a world class product, meeting not just significant public and private Saudi demand for the UVSS, but also the export markets of the GCC and beyond.
The SecurOS® UVSS has become the under-vehicle surveillance system of choice in the “third wave” of advanced security solutions sweeping through the Middle East. The system, which is patent protected, has been a major improvement over prior legacy technologies in terms of effectiveness, speed and ease of implementation. Notably, the ISS system was chosen at the end of last year to protect all eight stadiums and fan zones of the high profile FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar. Closer to home in Saudi Arabia, the SecurOS® UVSS has already been adopted by ZATCA ( the Saudi tax and customs authority), KAPSARC and the Alsalam Royal Palace in Jeddah.
